Fresh-brewed coffee, baked cookies and other snacks will be available. Full vaccination is recommended, masks are optional.
This concert continues the new partnership between Delaware Friends of Folk and the Dover Art League. After over 26 years of coffee house concerts at Wesley College, Friends of Folk are excited to be in “downtown” Dover and look forward to continuing involvement on Loockerman Street.
This month’s show features current Delmarva Folk Hero Isabel Angela. Isabel was born and raised in the nation’s capital. She is a folk girl with city roots, influenced by classic rock artists like Janis Joplin, Grace Slick, Emmylou Harris, Joan Jett, and more. She also loves classic country, jazz, and blues. Isabel started out as a gigging musician in Florida. She worked for 5 years at a local radio station and began playing bass for local bands and her school's jazz group, The New Cats, which she co-founded. She brushed shoulders with southern rock musicians from The Great Southern and this sound influenced her music. After moving to California in 2009, she played western country with locals, The Hill Country Band. Isabel started breaking out as a solo singer-songwriter in Sacramento and found producer, Matt Collen of Comm Sounds. They worked together over several years songwriting and producing a few Americana tracks. After moving back east, Izzy played with many local musicians, created her own rock band, Oriole Fuzz, and eventually began her country/bluegrass band The Lowdown. Currently, Isabel gigs around Baltimore City, her home base and is working on recording her next studio release. Guitarist Mike Shade will join Isabel for this show.
Opening the evening will be local guitarist Jamie Tindle. Jamie is a self-taught musician, playing guitar and other instruments for several years as a solo and in multiple projects and groups. Bands include a psych/folk project called Wandering Galley, the psychedelic space rock band 96 Sitars, the solo acoustic project Mossandmist, and more recently heavy drone project Earthshadow. His recordings are available on YouTube, Band Camp, or SoundCloud. Two Mossandmist albums are available on CD. Jamie has played in the Delmarva Folk Hero contest several times. He claims influence by various people, artists, cultures, groups, sounds, plants, and animals.
